MILK PRICE HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION SAYS NICHOLSON
Conservative and Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson has welcomed the 2.36 pence increase in the price per litre of milk as a step in the right direction.
In a statement Mr Nicholson said,
"I very much welcome this increase in the price of milk and the boost this will give local dairy farmers during this difficult period. The improvement in the global market coupled with some short term interventions in the market have certainly helped but the situation in the long term is still far from clear. The last thing we want to get ourselves into is a false sense of security.
"I will work continue to work in Brussels to ensure that the best possible situation for our dairy farmers is created."
