Nicholson extends condolences to soldiers' families.

Jim Nicholson MEP, Conservatives and Unionists Euro candidate offered his condolences to the family of the latest soldier from Northern Ireland to have been killed in Afghanistan. Nigel Moffett, originally from Holywood in East Belfast, was killed alongside his colleague Stephen Bolger in an explosion on Saturday.

In a statement Mr. Nicholson said:

"My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Moffett and Mr. Bolger at this terrible time. Families of soldiers serving in Afghanistan must be constantly aware of the dangers their loved ones face and it is devastating when such a loss occurs.

As Northern Ireland gears up to an election, we should all reflect on the brave sacrifices our soldiers have made to secure our democratic rights and freedoms.

My thoughts are also with Mr. Moffett's colleagues still serving in Afghanistan. It is crucial that these young men and women know that the UK's public appreciate the extremely difficult job they are doing and the sacrifices they have made".
