Strengthening Pro-Union vote

Commenting on strengthening the Unionist vote ahead of the European Election, Conservatives and Unionists candidate Jim Nicholson said, "A healthy democracy needs voters to exercise their democratic right and turn out to vote. As an unashamed Unionist - committed to strengthening, deepening and broadening the Union by placing Northern Ireland in the mainstream of UK politics - I particularly urge pro-Union voters to turn out and to transfer to pro-Union candidates.

"In a European election, it is also important the voters give support to and transfer to candidates who share the Conservatives and Unionists belief that there should be a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, that Europe needs to abandon its federalist ambitions and focus on economic recovery, and that the UK should keep Sterling. Obviously voting Nicholson 1 is how the people of Northern Ireland can express these views.

"Those who have not traditionally voted in elections in Northern Ireland also need to make their voice heard. The stagnation of Northern Ireland politics can only be changed by people exercising their right to vote and by backing a candidate committed to normal, mainstream UK politics.

"I therefore urge the people of Northern Ireland to ensure they make their voice heard in Europe and in Westminster by voting Nicholson 1 on Thursday".
